In order to be successful in the United States, it is necessary to be able to communicate well in English. The Rowan County Literacy Council's English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed to help adults speak, understand, read, and write in English.
Each student may be paired with a trained volunteer tutor, or in some cases may be assigned to a small group, taught by a trained tutor.
Help in preparing for the driver's license test is also available, as well as preparation for becoming a United States Citizen.
Instruction in all programs is free.
An initial registration free covers the cost of an intake evaluation and the first book. All additional books are supplied at a discount rate.
