Scramble Scramble
Each year Rowan County Literacy Council sponsors a Scrabble Scramble to raise awareness of the literacy problem in Rowan County to supplement the financial support we recieve from United Way, foundations, our memberships, and other donors.
Scrabble isn't just a board game. It's an opportunity for merchants, organizations and individuals to help their fellow residents overcome reading difficulties and language barriers.
The "Scramble" begins with a buffet dinner in the Holiday Inn atrium and then moves to the ballroom for three rounds of team Scrabble. Teams of five to ten compete for cash prizes which are awarded to the three highest scoring teams. Raffles for other prizes are conducted between rounds.
