Scrabble Scramble
Each year Rowan County Literacy Council sponsors a Scrabble Scramble to raise awareness of the illiteracy problem in Rowan County and to supplement the financial support we receive from United Way, our membership, and other donors.

Scrabble Scramble 7
Scrabble isn't just a board game. In Rowan County it's an opportunity for merchants, organizations and individuals to help their fellow residents overcome reading difficulties and language barriers.
That's just what happened at the Rowan County Literacy Council's Scrabble Scramble 7 on April 20, 2010. Organizations and individuals formed eight teams for an evening of fun and competitive Scrabble at the Holiday Inn. Our thanks go to those participating teams, to the merchants and individuals w
ho donated prizes and supported us financially, and to the volunteers who worked hard to make the evening a success.
The South Rowan Y Service Club once again was the highest scoring team with Friends of the Library, Trinity Oaks, and the First UCC Friends increasing their scores from last year to become real threats to our first place team.
Added to the raffle prizes this year was a
"wheel of fortune" that issued cash to the spinners
of the wheel.
